Customer’s problem: Ball Transfer Units and Space Optimization.
One of our customers, who used to employ our ball transfer units in pressed metal-sheet,
version SP 15 L, therefore with main ball of 15 mm, had to face a challenge in designing a new ball transfer table. Even if the application of standard ball transfer units was the usual choice, for this new table there was no enough space to insert the standard version of our SP 15 LB. Moreover, he also had to face the problem of fixing the ball transfer units: a very important element to grant the stability and safety of the ball transfer table.
The difficulty was in offering a solution able to respect the “limited” below dimensions, but at the same time performing and safe.
Check of customer’s needs: Load Capacity and Material of Ball Transfer Units.
In order to find a valid solution, we started checking the real needs of the customer, focusing in particular on the load capacity required for this ball transfer table.
After finding out that the real necessary load capacity was less than 15 kilograms, we decided to focus on a solution that, while maintaining a good resistance and duration, could comply with these new needs. In particular, we have decided to work on ball transfer units in pressed metal-sheet “Saturn form” (or flying saucer), with balls in chrome steel AISI 52100, material able to grant adequate resistance and durability considering the required load capacity. This solution ensured that, in spite of different dimensions, the quality of the ball transfer units would have been perfect.
The Solution: Ball Transfer Units SP 15 LB “DV” in Pressed Metal Sheet
After carefully defining the customer’s requirements, we have suggested the use of this specific version SP 15 LB “DV”.This ball transfer unit, carried out in pressed metal sheet, turned out to be the perfect choice: it is light, but resistant at the same time, and grants technical features perfectly complying with customer’s needs as for space and fixing.
Our SP 15 LB “DV” in fact is provided with two holes on the flange, allowing the easy fixing of the ball transfer unit using screws or rivets, thus solving the problem quickly and safely.
Thanks to this solution, our customer has been able to realize a safe and compact working table, thus keeping the required load capacity, without compromising the stability of the handling system.

The result has been a real success: our customer has achieved in completing the ball transfer table with our SP 15 LB “DV”, a ball transfer unit that has perfectly been able to comply with his dimensional and fixing needs. Thanks to its particular shape and the possibility to be easily fixed, he has optimize the installation time and improved the efficiency of the working table. The ball transfer units in pressed metal-sheet “Saturn form” (or flying saucer) has granted a smooth and safe omnidirectional movement of loads, fully satisfying the expectations of both our customer and his end client.
The working table has been completed fully respecting the required specifications, ensuring optimal smoothness and necessary safety for a correct operation. The easiness in fixing the ball transfer units, thanks to the version SP 15 LB”DV”, made the whole installation process faster and less complex.
