Ball transfer tables are a typical application of ball transfer units. They consist of a solid frame, on which zinc-plated metal sheet panels are placed; these are provided with holes arranged at pre-fixed distances, which are the seats for the ball transfer units.
Typical features of ball transfer tables
Ball transfer conveyors may have standard or customized dimensions, and are also used in modular version. They are suitable for any kind of application in the fields of packing, packaging and assembling of different sorts of products. They are important for goods handling and can be used also as connecting elements. They allow the instantaneous change of the direction in manual transport systems and facilitate the rotation and handling of the item to be worked, if used as working-tops.
The choice of the ball transfer unit to be inserted depends on the ball transfer table dimensions, as well as on weight and dimensions of products or materials to be conveyed. Ball transfer units have main ball diameter starting from 8 or 12mm (such as SP 8 or SP 12) up to the largest diameters such as 60,76,90 mm (our SP60, SP76 and SP90).
The most commonly used ball transfer units for working-tops are those with main ball diameter of 15, 22 or 25 mm. (such as SP 15, SP 22 or SP 25).
Ball transfer units used for ball transfer tables can be in turned steel or in zinc-plated pressed metal sheet, according to the required load capacity.
Where possible, the most used versions are those in zinc-plated pressed metal sheet since they are lighter and less expensive.
Ball transfer tables: application in airport environments
As for airport field, the most used ball transfer conveyors have B.T.U. with main ball diameter of 30 and 45 mm (such as SP30 or SP45), in standard or cargo versions. The cargo solution can be used in outside environments, thanks to more resistant coating treatments and also thanks to the stainless-steel balls.
Ball transfer units for ball transfer conveyors: important remarks
It is important to pay the proper attention to the diameter of holes provided on ball transfer tables, to ensure that ball transfer units can be easily inserted. If necessary, ball transfer units can be held in their seats thanks to the apposite fixing rings, which can be removable or fix.
If holes are too large, compared with the external diameter of the ball transfer units, the use of tolerance rings can be of help.
