Airport Applications
Special ball transfer units for airport logistics : precision and durability
Our ball transfer units made of turned steel, in the versions Cargo and CX Airport, are specifically designed for airport handling systems and logistic applications, including forwarder’s platforms, deposits and ports. Talking about ball transfer units intended for use in the airport field, both “Cargo” and “CX Airport” series, a specific reference is made to the ball transfer units identified dimensionally as SP 30 and SP 45.
These elements offer strength, resistance to corrosion and a very good smoothness, ensuring efficient performances in every situation.
“Cargo” ball transfer units: technical features
Some important technical features characterize “CARGO” ball transfer units:
- they are carried out in turned, hardened steel for heavy-duties;
- main ball and supporting balls are completely in stainless steel AISI 420 C to grant a better resistance to corrosion;
- they are provided with a stainless steel plate on the bottom, with 7 drain holes of 1,8 mm diameter, to allow the exit of condensation, dust and impurities.
- they are carried out without felt seal to grant a better smoothness.
- they are provided with a special zinc-coating treatment to improve resistance to weather agents and saline mists; on request, they can be supplied also with standard zinc-coating, in case of use in environments without particularly critical situations (for example indoor use).
“CX Airport” ball transfer units: technical features
The ball transfer units of “CX Airport” series differ from the others thanks to specific technical features. Here the most important:
- “CX Airport” ball transfer units also have outside housing in turned steel, machined from bar. They differ however from the cargo version, since they are provided with an inner cup, where balls roll, made of AISI 420 stainless steel, vacuum hardened.
- the CX Airport series is available with a standard flange or “cuspide” version (i.e. flange with inclination)
- they are available with standard zinc-coating treatment; on request, they can be supplied with the special zinc-coating treatment to resist particularly critical environments.
- different options of drain holes are available for this series, to facilitate the exit of impurities:
- the version with 30 mm main ball, our “SP 30”, has 1 hole on the bottom of the housing, while the inside cup may have 1 or 5 drain holes on its bottom.
- the version with 45 mm main ball, our “SP 45”, has both the inside cup and the housing provided with 1 drain hole on the bottom.
- this type is provided with an oiled felt seal; on request it can be supplied without, to ensure better smoothness.
When choosing the “Cargo” and “CX Airport” ball transfer units?
Our ball transfer units are particularly suitable to move heavy loads in any direction, making them perfect for airport loading vehicles, logistic platforms, mechanical transfers and other industrial applications.
A correct installation is essential to ensure the utmost efficiency.
To grant the best performances it is also important to plan periodic maintenance cycles.
