High-performances ball transfer units for alternative energy and photovoltaic fields
Our ball transfer units SP 25 L “DV”, commonly known as Flying Saucers or Saturn form ball transfer units because of their particular shape are used in specific fields of application: one of those is represented by the photovoltaic sector, a “clean or green” energy source, as renewable energy sources are also defined.
In fact, this kind of ball transfer unit is used in specific devices, which find application in the field of photovoltaic power production (but not only!). The mostly used version for this particular purpose, is the one with balls in stainless steel AISI 420C, our SP 25 LC “DV”.
In addition to our SP 25 L “DV” with a 25 mm main ball, this series also includes the SP 15 L “DV” version, characterized by a main ball of 15 mm diameter, for applications requiring smaller dimensions; both versions are provided with two fixing holes.
To complete the range of ball transfer units in pressed metal sheet that can be fixed by the holes on the flange, it is important to mention the SP 22 L “SC” version, carried out with a 22 mm main ball and provided with 3 fixing holes. Since its housing is hardened, this last version can grant higher load capacity than the others of the same series.

- the most used variant in this field is the one with balls in stainless steel 420C; this series includes however also the versions with chrome steel balls AISI 52100 or with main ball in plastic material, according to application needs.
- thanks to the holes on the flange, these ball transfer units can be easily fixed on different surfaces.
- only the version SP 25 L “DV” has a hole on the bottom to allow dirt exit.
- SP 22 L “SC” is provided with an oiled felt seal, or dry on request. (Except for type with plastic balls).
- SP 15 L “DV” and SP 25 L “DV” do not have felt seal.
